What is Ferrous Sulfate ?


 Ferrous sulfate is an inorganic substance with a chemical formula of FeSO4 and a blue monoclinic crystal in appearance. Ferrous sulfate is reducing. Decomposed by high heat to release toxic gases. In humid air, it is easily oxidized to brownish yellow basic ferric sulfate which is insoluble in water. Ferrous sulfate can be used as a chromatographic reagent, spot analysis for the determination of platinum, selenium, nitrite and nitrate. Ferrous sulfate can also be used as reducing agent, making ferrite, purifying water, polymerization catalyst, photoengraving and so on.
